New Additions-2

We planted Crenshaw melons at the same time as the butternut squash.  They were just small plants a couple of weeks ago...they're growing so fast!

We put up a trellis because they have a vining habit.

Crenshaw Melons are considered one of the sweetest varieties in the melon family.  The Crenshaw is a hybrid cross between the Casaba melon and the Persian melon.  Its parent melons are native to Turkey and Iran.  Crenshaws grow in temperate and warm regions throughout the Mediterranean and the Americas.
The teardrop shape has a yellow and green corrugated rough, firm rind void of netting.  Its dense, tender, peach colored flesh is sweet and slightly spicy.  Crenshaws can weigh as much as 8-10 pounds when ripe.
They are an excellent source of vitamin C and a good source of vitamin B6.

Can't wait til these flowers

Turn into this
YUM!
