First Harvest!! Happy Spring!!!

Already?  Yes!!! It's the arugula!!  This was one of the plants we put in and it has been warm so it has grown real fast!

Arugula is an aromatic leafy green as seen above...sometimes called rocket, rocquette, or rucola.  It's a member of the same botanical family as watercress, cabbage and broccoli.  Arugula is low in calories and rich in lutein and vitamin A.
The taste is often likened to peppery mustard making it somewhat stronger than most lettuces.  It's most often used as a salad green and can also be wilted like spinach and served as a healthful side dish.
We chopped it up and mixed it in our salad...YUMMMMM!!!!

Today is the vernal or spring equinox.   This is when the center of the Sun crosses the equator and the night and day have approximately equal length.
